The Illua Igloo Village - Build Your Own Igloo

Available from 15th of December - 30th of March - Groups of 4 to 8 people.
Do you like a challenge? How about the challenge of building your own snow house from snow blocks? It's a wonderful feeling to use the snow we have all around us to build a super ecological home in the snow. We use a traditional Inuit technique when we build our igloos. Construction is almost an art and the Igloos are not easy to put together, but we will make sure you succeed! In the early morning we transfer to the edge of the igloo village which is located just outside of Jokkmokk.
We begin the short ski journey on special wooden cross country skis and travel to our building location out on the lake. Igloo building is a team activity and needs three to four people to work together to build each one. Of course we can build them with two people, but that takes a lot of hard work. The only tools we need are special knives and snow saws to cut and shape the blocks
Working on the igloos is fun, but we will need to rest several times , drinking hot lemonade, eating and enjoying the day next to a campfire. Can it be better than this? A snowy landscape all around us, a warm campfire and our own home, made just from the wind packed snow. You may want to sleep the night in an igloo and receive 10 % off the normal price.
