Reindeer & Igloo Building Weekend at The Solberget Reindeer Retreat

Available from 1st of February - 15th of April. Groups of 3 to 8 people.
Day 1 Explore the area surrounding the retreat during today with a guided tour on wooden skis. We will travel across the virgin snow by skis keeping an eye out for the local wildlife as we travel through the amazing snow covered forests.
In the evening you can enjoy a wood fired sauna which has much softer steam than a sauna heated by electricity. You come out of the sauna steaming and watch the spectacular night sky with its myriad of stars and the breathtaking Arctic colours.
Day 2 You get to know the resident reindeers and how to look after them before we leave for the igloo campsite. Your backpacks will be carried on wooden sleds pulled along by the reindeer. This allows you to enjoy the magical snow covered forests and the incredible winter atmosphere without the burden of carrying your belongings yourself.
When we arrive at our campsite, we begin to build our own shelter for the night - made completely of snow. Firstly we dig out and build a dome shape mound of snow and press out all of the air. We let it freeze for a couple of hours and then carefully dig out a room inside the now frozen packed mound. Equipped with an Arctic resistant winter sleeping bag and lying on brushwood and reindeer furs, you will spend a night in the wilderness that you will never forget – in an igloo made all by yourself.
Days 3 Back to the retreat where the sauna is waiting to warm you up. The last day is at your disposal. We can arrange a trip to the Ice Hotel or a short reindeer tour at your request.
