Salmon Fishing for a week at Jockfall on the Kalix River

Available from 15th of May - 30th of August. Groups of 4 to 16 people.

The Jockfall fishing centre is located on the free flowing Kalix River and is known locally as a “salmon fisherman's paradise”. Our fishing centre is in an unbeatable location right next to one of the largest waterfalls on the Kalix River with its impressive 9m drop. We offer some excellent opportunities for you to land “the big one”. That huge salmon is out there somewhere, no doubt about that!

You will stay in 4-bed cabins and have the use of a well appointed service house with showers and a sauna located nearby. The centre has its own restaurant and fishing shop on site. You can also hire equipment from the shop and we have everything that will need to make your stay with us an unforgettable experience.

Day 1 We meet you at the airport in Luleå for a transfer to our fishing centre where you settle into your cabins. You will have some time to find your way around and explore the immediate surroundings. During dinner, we will tell you all about the salmon fishing at the centre and the nearby waterway, Ängesån. We will also explain how the salmon ladder in the waterfallfunctions as well as everything else you need to know about staying with us.

Day 2 After breakfast we start the day by fishing in the area just below the falls, about 100m from the camp centre. This area comprises of two large pools where the salmon stop to gather strength before continuing upstream. We have lunch outdoors on the banks of the Kalix River. You carry on fishing for the rest of the day while your guide points out the most likely hiding spots for the salmon. After the day’s fishing, you can take a sauna and enjoy a well deserved meal in the on-site restaurant at our centre.

Day 3 We take a trip to the Ängesån, known as the “fly-fishing river”. When we reach this beautiful river, your guide will show you the best salmon spots of the day. We have lunch and dinner outdoors by the waterway and return to the centre in the early hours of the morning.

Day 4 Today we try our hand at trolling around Ansvar which is located 5km down river from the falls. We fish from a boat along the smooth stretches of water between the rapids. For those who wish to fish from the shore, this area is well suited for both spinning and fly-fishing. Here you can enjoy a tussle with some brawny grayling or trout. We have lunch at an open cabin with its own grill area while enjoying the wonderful natural surroundings. Dinner is served in the restaurant at the centre.

Day 5 Today you can choose where you want to fish. You can decide on your own fishing tour in the area, or if you prefer, stay around the waterfall centre and the fishing pools. Lunch and dinner can be eaten either at our restaurant, or you can take a packed lunch and dinner with you if you travel outside of the centre.

Day 6 Breakfast followed by a transfer to the airport where we say goodbye and hope that the past week has been a memorable one. Our wish is that you go home having been totally captivated by the majestic countryside surrounding the Kalix River and hopefully a few glistening salmon.
