Christmas at The Solberget Reindeer Retreat

Christmas at the Reindeer Wilderness Retreat on the Arctic Circle couldn't be farther from a traditional Christmas. Surrounded by forests covered in deep snow, the area invokes a feeling that you are living in magical world of hobgoblins and fairies. You will also wonder at the the perfect peace and quiet you experience at the retreat. With only five hours of daylight, the sky is strewn with an unbelievable atmospheric colour due to the sun hanging low in the sky. The nights provide a breathtaking starlit Arctic Light and even the chance to catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights.
Father Christmas has an easy time out here as he does not have to worry about huge piles of presents or a hectic Christmas. At the retreat you can learn how to handle Santa's favourite animal. Gliding through the glittering snow covered forests sitting on a reindeer sled is something you will never forget. A visit to the world famous Icehotel in Jukkasjärvi can be arranged, as well as a visit to the Sami museum in Jokkmokk (extra cost excursions).
This tour is for people who want to escape the usual hectic Christmas atmosphere at home and who want to spend a few peaceful and very quiet days in Lapland instead. With this in mind, a lot of time is set aside for pure downtime and simply taking it easy. Going back to basics in this winter wonderland at Christmas provides a level of relaxation therapy that is hard to find elsewhere. Exciting additional activities can be booked in addition to the programme if you would like to add these to your trip. Skis are provided so that you can discover the immediate surroundings of the retreat.
You may even want to spend a night in the small 'hut' cabin located in a secluded area on a small mountain side near the retreat. We invite you to spend a peaceful and happy festive season with us at the retreat and share in a unique Christmas experience.
Day 1 You are shown around the village and the immediate area of the retreat.
Day 2-5 You are free to enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the retreat, or we can help you organise a trip to the Ice Hotel, Jokkmokk museums, a dog sled trip, reindeer sleigh ride.
Christmas at The Retreat - Price: Swedish Kr 7,000 per Adult - Price: Swedish Kr 3,100 per Child
Price includes: Pick-up at the train-station in Nattavaara, Ski equipment and Maps of the area, Guided tour of the village ( Day 1 at 2am), Reindeer feeding, Use of the sauna, Full board with local produce and typical specialities of the region (including organic food), Accommodation in uniquely styled rooms (usually shared rooms, doubles are an additional 100kr per person per night), Three guided ski tours (3 hours each), A one hour reindeer sleigh ride.
Price excludes: Transport to and from Nattavaara and any alcoholic beverages.
Please Note: Please read about the retreat and its facilities to make sure your are aware of the standard of accommodation and the facilities of The Retreat. The tour starts at 2pm on the first day and ends on the final day at 3pm. The rooms are available from 2pm on the first day until 1pm on the last day.
